Rural India will soon have its own mobile courts. The Cabinet
has requested the UPA government to go ahead with the setting
up of mobile courts to bring justice to rural India's doorsteps.
6000 magistrates would be appointed for this plan and the courts
will function at the Panchayat level. A new law called Gram
Nyalaya Act would be legislated; a bill for the proposed law
has been introduced in Parliament.
PR Dasmunsi, Minister, Information and broadcasting minister
said that the Cabinet has approved of a proposal to enact a
law. He also said that this would reduce significant number
of awaiting cases in subordinate judiciary.
The proposed legislation will introduce a system of judiciary
which will be less expensive, free from protracted procedural
wrangles, quick and available at the grass-root level, accessible
to the common man and render justice to him as enshrined in
article 39A of the Constitution.
